RECOVERY IS A MARATHON,
NOT A SPRINT
Amanda's Story
My name is Amanda, and I am a Project Assistant at The Transitions Research and Training Center in Worcester, Mass. It wasn’t until my college years that I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. At that time, I was living at college, going through a severe manic episode, with no knowledge as to what was happening with me. I ended up having to drop out, and went from being an honor student to failing two semesters worth of classes. I was having a tough time, and felt like I had nowhere to turn. After finding the resources I needed, as well as a great support team, and working hard towards my recovery on a day to day basis for nearly two years, things started to turn around. I’m currently living a full and happy life, working towards my goals, and keeping on track in my recovery. I am back in college, and have an amazing job at the RTC. I joined Transitions RTC in hopes of helping others who are in the same position as I was a few years ago. I hope to use this website to help provide the opportunity for young adults to express their opinions and feelings on the topic of mental health conditions, while learning and gaining resources to help aid them in their recovery. Every step towards recovery is a step in the right direction, and we could all use a little support and encouragement on our journey!
